A day at the farm

To me one of the greatest parts of being a parent, is to see the world, everyday things and events, through the curious and excited eyes of a child. I have to admit, I had been excited for weeks, waiting for the opening day of a local working farm. Mason has been practicing his animal sounds and the thought of him seeing and hearing the animals and their sounds, in person, was more than I could take. I knew he would be thrilled and I was so excited, for him. So opening day came and it was a beautiful sunny day. With Mason in his jean overalls we headed out, for what would be a great day at the farm.

Worlds End

This past weekend, we continued our exploration of all the great nature preserves that are in the area, we now have a new favorite...Worlds End. This 250 acre preserve is a peninsula that stretches out into the southern portion of the Boston harbor. The morning started out a little grey with drizzle, but by the end of our walk the sun was shinning and our sweatshirts were no longer needed. Of course, Mason loved the walk. The paths are old carriage trails that are wide and clear and free of tree roots (tripping hazards for Mason), but full of sticks and rocks.

A day at the Museum

A couple of weeks ago, Mason and I made a trip into the city to visit the Boston Children's Museum. We went on a Wednesday, which was great, no crowds! We spent about 4 hours exploring all 3 levels which included a bubble room, ball room, open play area, water and boat room, a PBS cartoon room where the kids can dance along with their favorite characters against a green screen. Thanks to the advice from friends that have been there, I made sure to bring a change of clothes, Mason was soaked after all the water activities. It was a great day and one we hope to repeat soon.

Easter 2009

Though this is officially Mason's second Easter, this is the first year the Easter Bunny brought him a "basket" full of goodies. His basket was filled with books, balls, movies and a few little animals to enjoy the water table with. As for the water table, we told the Easter Bunny that this would be a great gift and hopefully one, that will now keep him out of the dog's water bowl!
